Teach the Future is a youth-led campaign to urgently repurpose the entire education system around the climate emergency and ecological crisis.
Our research shows that less than 10% of teachers have integrated climate and sustainability into their lessons, despite 80% of the saying it is relevant to what they teach. We need better than this - education is how you change the world!
We are calling for a broad climate and ecological education, with relevant content woven into different subjects. If we get climate education right, it will empower young people to take action and raise the issues with their parents, aunties and uncles, grandparents and family friends, who might well have the power and influence to make a real difference.
So far we have run our own version of the COP (Mock COP26), run our Teach the Teacher training in 22 countries and persuaded the UK Department for Education to develop a sustainability strategy. We are now working on an education ministers summit at COP27 in November 2022 and getting our Climate Education bill back in parliament in England.
