The Native Organizers Alliance is a fiscally sponsored project of the Alliance for a Just Society. Its core mission is the empowerment of Indian Country through a model involving trainings on organizing, fostering a learning community of Native organizers and leaders, and mentorship rooted in traditional indigenous knowledge and practices. Native Organizers Alliance provides technical assistance, campaign planning and strategy development, and ongoing research and organizing support to Native-led community groups and tribes. The key element of the support for tribes and Native community groups is to strengthen traditional practices as a guide for achieving sovereignty in the 21st century. Through this model, we support Native organizers and groups’ campaigns for health, economic, environmental and racial justice in local communities.
The Native Organizers Alliance’s work fosters a transformation from a world of domination and exploitation to one of collaboration and partnership. As a Native-centric organization, we are keenly aware of the centuries-old systems of colonialism, systemic racism, exploitation, and genocide that have shaped the current state of the world. We believe that our peoples and tribal cultures are uniquely qualified to lead toward a vision that is in harmony with our planet and it’s inhabitants.
